Our Story
Miles From Nowhere
Miles From Nowhere was founded in 2005 by the Tate Family, growing fruit on their two Margaret River properties.
The name pays homage to their patriarch, arriving in Australia by boat 100 years earlier. The family felt he must have looked to the sky and thought he was travelling miles from nowhere.
A New Era for Miles From Nowhere
At the end of 2025 Miles From Nowhere joined Greenpiper Wines, as a part of their expansive portfolio of award-winning Margaret River wines. This comes as Australia’s wine industry faces a particular hard time; Greenpiper saw they had the opportunity to preserve a legacy brand.
As previous significant suppliers and collaborators with the iconic Margaret River brand, Greenpiper’s founders, Andy and Rob, could see the great opportunity for an expansion of their business with a brand that reflects their values, and passion for making award-winning Margaret River wine.
In every glass we express our love and passion for what Margaret River creates and the potential it holds. Our wines are made for those who want to drink beautiful, distinct local wines. A bottle you will always be happy to crack open at then end of the day that gives comfort and taste in equal doses.
Our Founders
Andy Ferreira
Co-Founder of Greenpiper
When Andy and Mandy first arrived as migrants, Andy spent 10 years growing vegetables. It was backbreaking work, and eventually he decided it was time to return to his passion for viticulture. So, in 1996, as the wine industry was blooming, he founded Riverace Viticulture. Today, they harvest about one-third of the vines in Western Australia.
Co-Founder of Greenpiper
Rob Tincey
Rob is a notable figure in both the electronics and wine industries.
Alongside his wife, Lauren, he founded Butler Crest Estate in Margaret River at the turn of the century.
